چکیده

Background Coronary arteries and their major branches are usually located on the surface of the heart. Infrequently, one portion of coronary arteries is situated intra-myocardially, a condition termed myocardial bridging (MyB). Generally, its prevalence is reported to be around 15% but there is evidence that in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) this phenomen is far more frequent with an incidence of up to 41%. Although the effect of MyB is mostly in systoly (not-perfused anyway), its impact on myocardium to induce myocardial fibrosis due to chronic prolonged hypo-perfusion is unknown. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is able to detect focal myocardial fibrosis. Therefore, we sought to investigate the relationship between MyB and focal LGE often seen in HCM.

Myocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods

Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...

[Evidence of gadolinium late-enhancement on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in a patient with peripartum cardiomyopathy].

Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a form of heart failure that affects women late in pregnancy or early in peripartum. The present report describes a case of a patient with PPCM demonstrated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with late gadolinium enhancement of the left ventricle (LV). The late gadolinium enhancement of MRI improved associated with recovery of cardiac function. Endomyocardia...

High Sensitivity of Late Gadolinium Enhancement for Predicting Microscopic Myocardial Scarring in Biopsied Specimens in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

BACKGROUND Myocardial scarring can be assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging with late gadolinium enhancement and by endomyocardial biopsy. However, accuracy of late gadolinium enhancement for predicting microscopic myocardial scarring in biopsied specimens remains unknown in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We investigated whether late gadolinium enhancement in the whole heart reflects mic...

T1 mapping for characterization of myocardial fibrosis in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Background It was reported that the occurrence of myocardial fibrosis was related to sudden cardiac death and heart failure in patients with HCM. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a widely used clinical method to detect fibrosis, however, its spatial resolution is limited. The purpose of this feasibility study is to determine the value of T1 mapping for the n...
